Prayer for Our Military: Training and Preparation for Warfare “Training and preparation for war are fundamental to success on the battlefield. Training must be structured to address the anticipated challenges of the battlefield upon which the soldier expects to operate. Success and survival will be determined largely by the extent and sophistication of the training programs that are implemented before going into battle. A poorly designed and executed training program will result in loss of life and failure to subdue the enemy. Social experiments in the US military have greatly degraded training programs by using valuable time for non-essential training, thereby sacrificing valuable training time in favor of such things as diversity, tolerance, sexual harassment, and white privilege.” (General Jerry Boykin)1 “Blessed be the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war….”. (Psalm 144:1; ESV) Give Him 15 minutes in prayer: Ask the Lord to give wisdom to military leaders regarding the wise use of their training time and resources. Pray for these social experiments to be stopped and for no additional social experiments to be done. Pray for a restoration of combat-focused training that will prepare American service members for the rigors of warfare. A prayer you can pray: Father, our military leadership needs wisdom for the use of their training time and resources. We say, “Enough with social experiments in this ‘captive audience’.” These are men and women needing trained to fight for the protection of American freedoms around the world. Praying for Our Military: Protection of the Troops “Young American military men and women are serving in hostile areas around the world today, standing against evil in places like Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria. Their enemies are diabolical, determined, and lethal. Every service member in harm’s way needs the protection of the Almighty, just as Psalm 91 calls for. Prayers for them need to be focused and intense and prayed as one would pray for a loved one who is in imminent danger with an immediate need for protection. We must remember that those who serve do so because their country has sent them to a foreign land to stand up to tyranny, not because they have chosen the time and place for warfare. Consequently, we need to be praying for safety for all military personnel wherever they are in the world.” (General Jerry Boykin) “A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you”. (Psalm 91:7; ESV) Give Him 15 minutes in prayer: Pray that God will give each service member the whole armor of God in both a physical and spiritual manifestation of that armor. Pray that God will give each service member a discernment to see and recognize the enemy before the enemy can act. Ask the Lord to bring comfort to all service members as they are separated from their families and loved ones. Ask God for victory in battle for America and our allies. Seek a quick victory with a minimal loss of life on either side. A prayer you can pray: Father, we ask You to cloth each of our U. S. Service members with the whole armor of God. Protect them from every plan of the evil one against them. We ask that You would give them a gift of discernment to recognize the enemy before they can act. Please send Holy Spirit to comfort the loved ones of those who are deployed. Grant grace and peace to soldiers on the battlefield. We ask You for swift and complete victory on the battlefield with minimal loss of life. Agreement in the Final Day of the Esther Fast “Shockingly, the Women’s March was only a first shot across the bow. In reality, an alliance of spiritual anarchy is presently being unveiled in full defiance of a ‘We the People’ electoral result and biblical truths that undergird our nation. With a disturbing brazenness (and the consent of the media), the dark underbelly of anarchy issued a global summons to employ witchcraft and curses against President Trump, his cabinet, and those aligned with a biblical worldview. This made plain what we have known from the beginning: Spiritual battles cannot be won on the playing field of protests and political arguments. Only the Church has the answer to such an unprecedented manifestation of witchcraft. According to Derek Prince, the Persian advisor, Haman (the adversary in the Book of Esther), practiced divination through the casting of lots, thus clearly aligning himself with demonic spiritual powers in his plot to destroy the whole Jewish population in the earth. Esther’s response, a 3-day, no-food-no-water fast, was the nuclear option of her day. It was an act of desperate dependence on God, the only thing capable of breaking the dark powers being channeled by Haman’s witchcraft. ‘Esther and her handmaidens’ led the whole nation in an intense period of fasting and prayer for three days leading up to Purim. Amazingly, dark schemes at the highest levels of government were exposed. Esther’s fast effectively reversed the curse and shifted the whole public policy of the Persian Empire in favor of the Jewish people. Pray that Christians would repent of any alignment with darkness in their attitudes and words towards those in authority. Pray that those inciting violence and unrest would be stopped. Intercede that the younger generation of women and girls would rise up and be trained in the ways of Esther. Ask the Lord that upright women would be granted positions of influence in their homes, churches and civic realms. We ask that all agents of wickedness in any form would be found out and removed from their positions. Lord, let Christians repent of any place we may have aligned ourselves with darkness. Esther Fast for America “There are moments in history when a door for massive change opens. Intercede for the women lost in darkness who are rising up to fill a vacuum created by this last election. They feel disenfranchised and are aligning with histories injustices. Pray they would know God’s deep love for them. Declare that humble, God-fearing women, who understand their glorious purpose, will rise up to take their inheritance and their places in history. Pray for those participating in the Esther fast from sundown, March 8, to sundown, March 11, that they would have grace and strength and break the witchcraft seeking to curse President Trump and this new administration. A prayer you can pray: Father, we call for Your women to rise up! Let them know exactly who they are in You! We pray for those women lost in darkness who have risen up to fill a perceived vacuum of historic injustice. Show them how deeply You love them. In their place, we declare that God-fearing, glory-filled, humble women would rise up to that place God has prepared for them in this Purim season —to break the power of witchcraft over President Trump and over the nation, that God’s purposes can move forward and accomplish His perfect will. Praying for a Strong Economy: Tax Tax reform is a very important part of the Trump agenda and has several components. U.S. corporations have an estimated $2.5 trillion in cash parked overseas as current corporate tax policy allows them to not pay tax on profits which could be reinvested overseas. This policy is negative for U.S. corporations. Trump is proposing a one-time 10-15% repatriation tax (to be paid regardless of whether a company keeps its cash overseas or brings it back to the U.S.). This is an important plank of Trumps economic policy as it destroys the incentive for U.S. corporations to keep cash parked overseas, but can also generate as much as $375 billion in tax revenue to reduce the budget deficit. U.S. Corporate tax policy needs to be greatly simplified, and rates reduced as the top U.S. corporate rate is well above its peers, discouraging business.  Labyrinthine complexity makes it much harder for U.S. businesses with tax compliance cost estimated in $316 billion per year. S. businesses that have taken their manufacturing offshore that our government would provide incentives for them to be able to do business on U.S. soil once again. Ask the Lord to download wisdom and creative strategies to reduce our national debt! A prayer you can pray: Lord, we pray that our President and Congress, that they would come into a John 17 place of unity, and work together to simplify our corporate tax structure. We need a lower tax rate to draw new businesses to the U. S., as well as see the return of manufacturing to our shores. Praying for a Strong Economy: International Financial Relationships The world is more and more a global society. Nations trading with other nations is centuries old, but the speed and level of international trade has grown to such a massive level that some trade agreements can cause inequities and serious financial stress on one nation’s populace over another’s. Trump wants to rewrite the trade rules with which we do business with other countries. He favors bilateral trade agreements with different countries (example: U.S. negotiates separate trade deal with China vs. trying to deal with all 12 nations in the Trans Pacific trade agreement). This is important, as when establishing trade rules between the U.S. and another country, if one party cheats on the terms of the agreement or develops an economic advantage, this can be easily discovered and remedied. Whereas, a trade agreement with many participants is very difficult to monitor and enforce. The economic relationship between China and this nation, in particular, demands our prayerful attention. In addition to the trading of goods, our banking systems are inter-related, as well. Governments buy and sell the debts of other nations, and their currencies are exchanged on the open markets. Each nation attempts to regulate all of these international financial relationships to the benefit of their nation’s needs. The goal is not a “trade war”, but rather to make sure that American companies are not disadvantaged by trade terms versus our economic competition overseas. Ask the Lord to help China, Europe and the United States will coordinate their banking systems into a compatible system for accounting, foreign exchange rates, and regulation. Intercede that China will abandon its attempt to establish its own banking system separate from the protocol of Western banking standards. Pray that the World Bank and International Monetary Fund will be reformed and updated to comply with a new standardized world banking system. Pray that China will reform their internal economic system to establish true free enterprise. Ask the Lord to cause the Federal Reserves of the world, along with sovereign Treasuries, to work towards managing a foreign exchange rate for all currencies that is calibrated by free markets and not distorted by subsidization. A prayer you can pray: Father, we pray that President Trump would have favor wherever he needs it as he renegotiates our nation’s trade agreements with other nations.  Make our trade relationships win-wins for all countries involved. Coordinate our independent banking systems, so they work well together and that our exchange rates are true reflections of the strength of each nation’s economy. Reform the World Bank and International Monetary Fund or remove them. Let them no longer hold the world’s poorest nations in the poverty they are trying to escape from. We need Your wisdom through Your people placed in strategic places to provide Your creative financial plans to rectify a world economic system that is corrupt and power-hungry. Help us Lord! Amen. March 7 – Praying for a Strong Economy: Energy Energy plays a huge role in the U.S. economy, as American oil and gas provide more than 50% of energy needs for U.S. companies and are subject to possibly the most onerous regulations of any industry. The EPA was responsible for almost half of all new regulations in recent years. One Wall Street Journal article highlighted the insane difficulties of putting a 682 mile natural gas pipeline from western Wyoming to Oregon, requiring 215 archeologists to ensure that “rock stacks”(which had been used as navigational markers for trails prior to maps) were undisturbed. The EPA required a 44-member environmental inspection team to ensure that 1600 migratory bird nests were not disturbed. The pure insanity of many of these rules not only unnecessarily complicate projects, but drive up costs and time, meaning reduced profitability for the firms and less efficient energy costs to consumers. Ask the Lord to show our government leaders how to be good stewards of our natural resources and cultural history without limiting America’s economic recovery and progress. Pray for the discovery of new sources of energy resources and for creativity toward the best and most efficient use of the resources we currently have. A prayer you can pray: Father, there are circumstances where what appears right becomes foolish and this has often happened in the government stewardship of our natural resources. We believe You have given these resources to us for our use and prosperity. You have creative ways to access and use the resources wisely. Show our government leaders and entrepreneurs how to pursue energy independence and create new and better infrastructure, balancing inexpensive energy with growth and expansion. Praying for a Strong Economy: Small Business Growth Small businesses have always been the primary source of new jobs, and even in this anemic recovery have produced 60% of new jobs since 2009 despite entrepreneurs facing great uncertainty due to extreme regulations, skyrocketing healthcare costs, and ridiculously complicated tax codes. It takes courage to start a new business, as entrepreneurs risk their life savings and lifestyles (house, cars, education, etc.) starting a new business.  America needs an Entrepreneurial Explosion – as business startups provide the bulk of new jobs for the future. Ask God to stir individuals to recognize the gifts within them and that more and more would use those gifts to boldly start new businesses. Pour our positive business solutions and cause the government to loosen regulations, so this Explosion is possible. Stir individuals to recognize the gifts they have been given by You and help them to see how to use them to start new businesses. These businesses can care for themselves and their families, and provide employment to many others. Make them wise and make America’s businesses the best in the world—models for others. Praying for a Strong Economy: Regulation Federal regulation has gone through the roof. The Federal Register, which measures the sum total of U.S. government regulations, dropped below 50,000 under Reagan, and last year hit a new high of 97,110 pages, extracting an estimated $1.89 trillion a year in compliance cost from the economy, amounting to 15,000 per household. These regulations stifle business creativity, greatly increase cost, discourage firms from hiring, and depress business startups. The OMB estimated 9.7 billion hours complying with federal rules and regulations. Congress passes several dozen bills a year, whereas Federal departments issue well over 3000 new rules and regulations annually, requiring tens of thousands of new pages of regulations and code, plus thousands of new regulators, and thousands of jobs in the private sector purely for regulation compliance. Excess regulation puts American companies and workers at a disadvantage compared to many overseas counterparts, which often have few, if any, regulations to follow. This serves as a “tax” against American workers and companies versus world markets, making our products and services more expensive than they would otherwise be. Pray that regulations protecting American workers in the workplace are appropriate and reasonable. Pray that regulations on American companies overseas protect foreign workers working in those businesses. Thank the Lord that regulation rollbacks will help stimulate our nation’s economic recovery! A prayer you can pray: Father, we lift our President to You in prayer. His desire to reduce regulations to benefit American business growth is good for our country. Show those working with him exactly which regulations are hindering, but to keep those in place that protect our workers in certain working situations. We also ask that foreign workers working for American companies in their countries would be granted safety by our nation’s regulations. Praying for a Strong Economy: The Fact of the Matter “For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’” (Luke 14:28-30; ESV) Economic Facts: The recovery since 2009 has been the slowest in U.S. history. IBD states that had it been “average”, the economy would be $2 trillion larger ($18.5 trillion GDP for U.S. 2016). GDP has averaged 2.1% per year since 2009. By comparison, growth rates often hit 6-8% under Reagan’s administration. Job growth has actually been anemic, as increasingly discouraged workers have dropped out of the workforce (67% participation rate in 2008 vs. 62% now). The unemployment rate would be over 9% currently had so many workers not dropped out. The number of people working more than one job has hit an all-time high. Debt in this nation is at $19.9 trillion dollars or $61049 of federal debt per person! Ask the Lord to give the President and his Cabinet strategies for true economic recovery. Pray for American employers to know how to create more jobs. Intercede for American workers that we will find or create meaningful, well-paying jobs. That all governments of the world will reduce deficit spending, including the United States. That the United States will work towards balancing its budget and managing the dollar as the world’s reserve currency for the good of all countries. A prayer you can pray: Lord, we pray that Americans, especially American Christians, would get their heads out of the sand and face the truth about our nation’s economy. It is not in full recovery, but You can help our government leaders know how to get it there. Our citizens of all working ages need jobs that can support their families. Help them know how to create them, even how to create them for others. Show our government and private citizens how to get out of debt and live on a balanced budget, thereby moving into financial health and stewardship. In Jesus’ Name, amen. Religious Freedom: The “Johnson Amendment” Not every Christian is aware of “The Johnson Amendment”, but we should be. Most pastors and other religious leaders are aware of it and in fear of it. The story is long, but a former Texas Senator, who later became President, Lyndon B. Johnson, had a statement added to the Internal Revenue Service Code of 1954. It essentially said that if a nonprofit desired tax-exempt status, then they could not promote a specific candidate for office or influence legislation. That’s it. It was meant to keep nonprofit funds from flowing into political campaign coffers. Because it is often misunderstood, pastors tend to avoid preaching along any political lines or even instructing their congregations from the Word on moral matters that conflict with legislation, such as gay marriage, abortion or the transgendered issues. “You are doomed! You make unjust laws that oppress my people.” (Isaiah 10:1; GNT) Give Him 15 minutes in prayer: Fervently pray that the Johnson Amendment would be removed from the Internal Revenue Code. Intercede for pastors and other Christian leaders that they would be as bold as they can be in teaching the Word of God about political issues without endorsing a candidate or directly influencing legislation, until the Johnson Amendment is removed. Pray that Christians would become the lights in the darkness that they are meant to be. Our nation is in so much darkness now, because we did not open our mouths to prevent its encroachment in the recent past. Write letters of support to your pastor. Write letters of support to your legislators where you agree and letters of concern where you disagree. Create a righteous standard all around you and across the nation, wherever possible. A prayer you can pray: Father, churches will not be fully free of fear to preach the pure Word of the Lord until the Johnson Amendment is removed from the Internal Revenue Code. Lord, our pastors need to be able to preach about why a candidate or legislation is right or wrong for the nation and provide a clear biblical “why”.  Lord, forgive us for fearing man instead of God and keeping our mouths shut. Grant us a grace to openly influence legislation and to stand with those in government who legislate righteous laws. Thank You, Jesus. Amen. Religious Freedom: Separation of Church and State? Since the removal of prayer in schools in 1962, there have been many other situations where “freedom of religion” has been misconstrued by the court system as “freedom from religion”. The term in the First Amendment, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion” has become known as “the establishment clause”. In misconstruing it, the courts have often placed their decisions in direct opposition to the second half of that statement, “or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”. None of the cases where the “establishment clause” has been used by the courts to strike down free exercise of religion in the public square has ever been based on a law passed by Congress. State laws have been challenged by it. At times, the conflict is between the free exercise of the Christian faith in the marketplace and an individual who is offended by the practice, who then sues the former. In additional to the removal of prayer from the public square, there have been cases calling for the removal of the 10 Commandments from government offices and land, removal of nativity scenes from public land, removal of Bible reading in the public square, and inequitable access to public facilities and funds by Christian groups. “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance.” (Psalm 33:12; NKJV) Give Him 15 minutes in prayer: Identificationally repent as Daniel did in Daniel 9, on behalf of our governing leaders and our federal judges, especially our Supreme Court Justices, for laws and judicial decisions that misconstrued the First Amendment. Pray that many of these decisions would be challenged and overturned, so that true freedom of religion is secure in the United States once again. Use the Isaiah 22:22/Matthew 16:19 keys to shut the spiritual door of using the First Amendment to shut down Christian activities outside the walls of our church buildings. Intercede for those who hate Christians and seek to close their businesses or otherwise cause them harm would not find a place in this Amendment to do so in the future. Pray that they would come to know the love of Christ. A prayer you can pray: Father, I repent, as Daniel did, for those who govern our nation, where they have introduced laws and judgments that have not conveyed the truth of our First Amendment relating to freedom of religion. Raise up reformers who will challenge these laws and seek to realign things rightly and righteously. I use the keys of David to shut spiritual doors that prevent freedom of religion in the marketplace. I intercede for those who hate me, just because I am a Believer in Jesus. I choose to love them! Draw them to Yourself, and use me in the process! In Jesus’ loving name, amen. Today’s decree: I decree that God will restore our First Amendment rights completely, as we humble ourselves, repent, turn from our wicked ways, and pray.
