My Thoughts Regarding the Mid-Term Elections

It is extremely difficult to address the many concerns, questions, fears, etc. from Tuesday’s election in a short post such as this. That said, I will try to address some of them. This post is just a little longer than usual, so bear with me.

First of all, I want to say that I was not completely blindsided by what happened in the mid-term election, although it was definitely worse than I thought could perhaps occur. I actually felt that we might lose the House, and thought the Senate could go either way. I didn’t, however, anticipate the huge blue wave that occurred. Texas was my biggest surprise. I am certainly disappointed and frustrated, but was emotionally and mentally prepared because of what I had been feeling.

I alluded to what I was sensing in the GH15 post of September 18, stating, “At this point, it looks like some sort of miracle will need to happen [for Republicans to win the midterms].

“Most Americans are not yet wise and discerning enough to vote for biblical values; they still primarily vote their pocketbooks. The determining factor is typically not about the long-term health of the nation but how circumstances affect them personally. America is changing, but we are not yet transformed in this regard. And the media, as we know, feeds the fears and misconceptions of the American people. They are corrupt and will do or say anything to hurt Trump and help the Left: slant, distort, fabricate, twist, and lie. And, of course, the politicians on the Left lie and distort the truth as well. These two groups work in tandem.

“With all due respect to our President, who is working very hard to turn the tide in these elections, I don’t believe he is popular enough to do so. As I said, the election is more about people’s finances than about Trump’s overall policies and the long list of accomplishments he and Republicans have made. Without a solid anchor of truth, people change like the wind. Mooringless people are fickle people, ruled by feelings, comfort, pleasure, and personal desires.

“No, Trump’s rallies alone won’t turn the tide. We need a miracle…”(1)

Then again, in yesterday’s post, which had to be written on Election Day (the posts are always written and recorded the day before), I attempted to release encouragement, in light of what I was sensing. I wanted to remind you, the praying church, that no results would change our assignment and shouldn’t shake our faith regarding the saving of America. And, indeed, while I am frustrated and disappointed by Tuesday’s outcome, my faith is in no way shaken.

Let me be somewhat transparent with you. I’ve been here before. I experienced overwhelming grief in 2008 and 2012 when Obama was elected and reelected. Seeing the evil and deception in him, I knew what was coming. I and others had prayed diligently, and tried to warn the church but, to no avail. I mourned the church’s blindness, the door being opened to the powers of darkness, the coming deluge and celebration of evil, and the inevitable cost to our nation. The world, much less America, has not yet recovered.

Again, in 2020, I saw what was coming if Biden took over. When this materialized I mourned deeply once again, not for a political party or for Trump — for the babies, that would be killed, our children, our Republic, and the judgments and curses that I knew would result.

While experiencing these and other setbacks in no way lessens my present grief, they do enable me to process it with a different perspective, doing so through faith and maintaining my perseverance.

But these experiences did something else for me. They awakened in me some needed understanding of the church, which became very liberating. I realized that I could not convince the overall church to become more involved in our government process; nor could I convince her leaders to speak up and become more involved. God would have to do that another way, most likely through the resulting suffering and desperation. Their ostrich-mentality and denial, allowed by their comforting but skewed beliefs in the sovereignty of God, enables them to assert that things will be okay: God is in control and will do what He wants, regardless of our involvement. What a conveniently exonerating deception, one that completely cancels the law of sowing and reaping, and the choice we are commanded to make between life and death, blessing and cursing (Deuteronony 39:19).

I eventually came to the same conclusion Martin Luther King, Jr. arrived at in his Birmingham jail cell in April of 1963. In a letter to pastors, Dr. King expressed deep disappointment with the institutional church and its general leadership for remaining silent or standing on the sidelines during the civil rights movement. He said:

“Perhaps I have once again been too optimistic. Is organized religion too inextricably bound to the status quo to save our nation and the world? Perhaps I must turn my faith to the inner spiritual church, the church within the church, as the true Ekklesia and the hope of the world.”(2)

Just as the leaders did with MLK, the established church has been critical of those speaking up and calling for change. “Stop rocking the boat!” I and others have been told. Beginning back in 2008, I realized the mainstream church could not be used to generate the changes we needed. It would have to be a remnant. Though I love the entire body of Christ, I turned my efforts primarily to the praying church, the Ekklesia, knowing God would have to use a remnant to accomplish America’s turnaround. And He is. This is why, though I’m frustrated and disappointed, I AM NOT SHAKEN IN MY FAITH FOR THE COMING GREAT AWAKENING AND THE SAVING OF AMERICA.

In the early 2000s, I also tried to convince spiritual leaders that the ONLY hope for America’s complete turnaround and restoration was a Third Great Awakening; only the transformation of millions of hearts and minds, through salvation, would create the transforming change of thinking we need. (This reality has only increased. Millions of Americans, including “Christians,” now vote for communists, Islamists, killers of full-term babies, and children mutilators.) But most leaders in the church didn’t believe this was our only hope then and still don’t, which their actions — or lack thereof – prove. Some leaders believe it, but still succumb to the “sovereignty of God” theology – He’ll do it if/when He wants to, with or without us – allowing for no desperation, no crying out in intercession, no changing of their messages, etc. Business as usual remains the usual business.

So again, I have turned to the praying church, knowing God will have to use a remnant. AND HE IS!

These lessons, and the promises God has made, keep me from losing faith when something like this election occurs. As long as God has a praying people who continue to release His will and weaken the powers of darkness in our nation, the Third Great Awakening will occur, and America shall be saved.

Some ask me, “If it is true that only revival/awakening can produce America’s full recovery, why do I then pray and work so hard toward a righteous, God-honoring government?” Because government decisions influence the process. They do not dictate the final outcome, but they do determine the level of judgments, curses, suffering, and difficulties America will experience along the way. And also, the appropriate government leaders will need to be in position to bring about America’s complete reformation.

Others wonder why so many delays and setbacks occur in the process, especially when many are praying and asking for God’s intervention. The answer is simply that God must work the process of America’s recovery while also honoring millions of “free wills.” Our prayers do not allow Him to force Himself on them. He works to influence voters, as we asked. But when this influence is not honored, as with this election, God must work to bring about His plans in other ways, which He will. The ignorance and/or sin of people does cause delays, just as it did with the Israelites who came out of Egypt, but will not ultimately stop God’s plans. He navigates through the delays, working to raise up enough willing people. This willingness is created in different ways, sometimes through the reaping of pain and difficulties, other times through peoples’ salvation. And prayer fuels this process.

Also remember, because of His omniscience, wisdom, and power, God always uses the delays. He has factored them in and knows how to use them. Be assured that He will do so now. Our prayers are not in vain; God is using them to accomplish what He needs, even amid the fallout of these elections. Will there be pain as a result of America’s foolish decisions? Without a doubt. But they will not ultimately stop what God has promised, as long as we remain faithful.

Pray with me:

Father, I staked myself to Your promise years ago regarding America’s restoration. No amount of sin, no political party, and no election will pry me loose. The level of sin and compromise did not cancel the grace that brought the prodigal to his senses, and the mud and waste from his pigpen did not stop his father’s embrace. The blood of Jesus is greater than all sin.

We have determined to believe You, regardless of what occurs around us. You are saving America. We will not base our faith on an election, but on Your words and promises. Elections matter greatly - we are not in denial - and we care about the results, but they don’t determine our faith. So we continue to call forth the Third Great Awakening in America. Awaken the church, save unbelievers by the millions, and transform our land.

And I ask You to encourage the praying church. Give them a strong assurance that not one prayer has been wasted. Break off of them the power of hope deferred, don’t allow it to take root. Give them strength to turn their disappointment into determination. Give them renewed vigor and zeal. Remind them that it is through faith and patience that we receive Your promises (Hebrews 6:12). I declare strength over them now, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Our decree:

We declare that we have put our hand to the plow and will never turn back or let go. Never.
