These Dry Bones Will Live!
[Beginning 9/25, and continuing through Election Day, November 3rd, GiveHim15 is joining forces with many other national prayer ministries in 40 Days of Prayer for America. William Ford, III, President of Will Ford Ministries, provides today’s prayer focus.]
Louis Pasteur was famous for many medical inventions, including pasteurization. One medical invention in particular meant the most to him. Rabies was a serious threat in his nation, and Pasteur was working on a vaccine. Many had given up hope for a cure, but Pasteur continued experimenting. Just when he was going to try it on himself, a 9-year-old boy, Joseph Meister, was brought to him with the dreaded disease.
Pasteur gave the vaccine to the young boy, and amazingly, it worked. The lad was cured and lived. Pasteur went on to accomplish many other medical discoveries and patents before he died September 28, 1895. Of all the major accomplishments Pasteur could have placed on his tombstone when he died, he only wanted these 3 words: Joseph Meister Lived. May it be said of us that, when all looked hopeless, a remnant never gave up on our nation, and may the epitaph for our generation read: The Dry Bones Lived. 1
“The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones.” (Ezekiel 37:1; BSB)
Points for Prayer (By, Will Ford):
Pray for “the dry bones,” i.e., those who feel hopeless and lifeless to be awakened and revived.
Ask the Lord to reveal Himself to the multitudes who are in the valley of decision.
Pray that medical science would seek the Lord for the vaccine that could not only eradicate COVID-19, but also give glory to God.
Pray for winds of awakening to breathe upon our nation.
A Prayer You Can Pray:
Father, there is a spiritual principle in Your Word that we do not consider enough. We don’t pray it enough or decree it enough. Maybe that’s because it is too simple and we like to complicate things. We pray with too many words and out of too much self-perceived knowledge. You say, “Command the dry bones to live.” We should be declaring daily, “Dry bones, live!” We should have the faith to realize that You are able to bring to life things that are so dead now that they are now just bleached bones in the wilderness.
Oh God, how our faith would increase if we could grasp this truth! The spiritually dead would come to life! Prodigals would return home. Marriages would come to life. Miracles would begin to spring up everywhere! COVID could not keep us closed. Dead systems would come to life! Our economy would rebound. Those that are hopeless and without direction would find life in Christ! We say to the spiritual and natural death and despair around us, “Dry bones, live!”
Today’s Decree:
We declare to the hopeless and lifeless in America, “Live!”
