Where Does Your Trust Lie?

So, we have a new President of the United States of America. From Senators on down to local government officials, men and women will begin to take their places. We have prayed and interceded, acted and voted. It is now time to worship. Regardless of who won the race last night, we must refocus our attention on the King of Kings and Lord of Lords; our God in whom we can always trust! His promises to us are sure. His personality is unchanging and we can put our full trust in Him!

“Do not trust in princes, in mortal man, in whom there is no salvation. His spirit departs, he returns to the earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them; who keeps faith forever; who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets the prisoners free. The Lord opens the eyes of the blind; the Lord raises up those who are bowed down; the Lord loves the righteous; the Lord protects the strangers; He supports the fatherless and the widow, but He thwarts the way of the wicked.” (Psalms 146:3-7-9; NASB)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  1. Worship the Lord using the passage of scripture from Psalm 146. Put Him right at the center of your view today.

  2. On the basis of total trust in the One we love and serve, may we now pray for our new President. Ask the Lord to grant them wisdom from above, humility, and boldness to lead this great nation.

  3. Lift up the needs of our nation to the Lord: justice for the oppressed, food for the hungry, jobs for the jobless, homes for the homeless, unrighteous laws removed and righteous ones put in place, Judges that uphold the Constitution, and anything else the Lord lays on your heart.

  4. Intercede for their cabinet choices, our Senators, Representatives, and state and local officials as they prepare to begin a new session.

A prayer you can pray:

Father, we worship You today! We list up Your holy Name! You have not left your throne of authority and you are forever watching over us! Thank you! We pray for the new President we have chosen. We ask You to grant them Your grace and wisdom to govern with righteous judgement. Lord, grant them a humble boldness to make the decisions the nation needs right now. We pray for the many needs of our people. Grant creative solutions to our leaders, Lord. We lift up our Senators, Representatives, state and local officials (name them) and ask the same for them. In Jesus’ most precious name, amen.

Today’s decree:

The Lord is our Helper and one and only God! Worthy of our worship, He is forever our righteous ruler, giver of justice and the one who leads our leaders!
