True Sacrifice
“My only regret is that I have but one life to give for my country.” The man who penned these words, Nathan Hale, was one of the first to give his life for the future of this nation. He gave it willingly just as the nation was being birthed. Monday we will formally celebrate Memorial Day; the day we remember all of those who gave their lives for our freedom from the era of Nathan Hale to today.
“And on that cross Christ freed himself from the power of the spiritual rulers and authorities; he made a public spectacle of them by leading them as captives in his victory procession.” (Colossians 2:15; GNT)
Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:
Jesus is our role model. He willingly laid down His life for our spiritual freedom. Worship Him!
Pray for the families of those who have lost loved ones who died fighting for our freedom.
Ask the Lord for a revelation of the spiritual battles being fought, even as physical battles are being fought. The two often go together. Pray for our soldiers in the Middle East.
Thank a veteran or two or three that you see today. Post a thank you to social media or make a few phone calls.
A prayer you can pray:
Dear Lord, thank you for Jesus who died for our freedom and established Your Kingdom. Thank you for the brave soldiers who have given their lives for our freedom and established our nation. We are in every way the land of the free and the home of the brave. Grant me a grace to understand the nature of spiritual warfare and how spiritual battles often coincide with physical battles in the earth. I lift up every soldier fighting in the Middle East. Protect them, Lord, and bring them home safely. Give them wisdom to fight well with great success! In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
Today’s decree:
I honor those who have given their lives for my freedom!
