Believing the Future Into Being

As Walter Wink so eloquently states, we are forming the future today. “History belongs to the intercessors, who believe the future into being. If this is so, then intercession, far from being an escape from action, is a means of focusing for action and of creating action. By means of our intercessions we veritably cast fire upon the earth and trumpet the future into being.”1 Let’s go get our future!

“Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. ‘For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.’” (Matthew 18:19-20; ESV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  1. Want to change history? Commit to the Lord to be an intercessor! Grab a friend or two, even over the phone, and pray together a few minutes a day. Get a journal and write down what you pray, then watch for answers in the news!

  2. Intercession is prayer and action. Start with prayer today over an issue the Lord has placed on your heart. Ask the Lord what you can practically do to change it. Do that!

  3. Now, sit a minute and let the Holy Spirit show you what the future can look like in our nation. Intercede with passion that the way things are now will line up with what He has just shown you.

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, I want to be a history maker, so make me an intercessor! Give me Your prayer assignments for this nation. Show me who I can invite to pray with me on a regular basis. As we record our prayers, give us answers in the news! We want to record the activities of heaven as You intervene in our nation and literally change the course it is on. Alter history as we pray, Lord! Line things up with Your perfect Will and destiny for America! In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Today’s decree:

The intercessors will believe the future of our nation into being and I want to be one of them!
