Millennials’ Hunger
The millennials largely feel disenchanted with traditional church structure. Some are close to God without feeling a need for regular fellowship in a corporate body of Believers. Some have become prodigals in pigpens. They are filling a legitimate hunger with an illegitimate source. (Hannah Sheets)
“When he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have an abundance of bread, and here I am perishing with hunger! But while he was yet far away, his father saw him and was moved with compassion, and ran and embraced his neck and kissed him.” (Luke 15:17 & 20; MEV)
Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:
Ask the Lord to let the hunger in the millennials drive them to the only source that satisfies – Jesus!
Pray that the scales would fall off the eyes of a generation, so they can see the Father and meet their Mercy.
Ask the Lord to give them a desire to need other members of the body of Christ, even if they see their life’s ministry as outside the walls of the church, where it should be!
A prayer you can pray:
Father, you are a loving Father! God, the millennial generation is hungry for something, but not always sure what they are looking for. Reveal to them that the hunger is for You and that only You can satisfy their longings. Find those in the pigpen and draw them home, Holy Spirit. Give them such a desire for fellowship – koinonia – with other Christians. Reveal to them how much they can do together to transform their world as opposed to being in isolation from one another. Thank you, Jesus, Amen.
Today’s decree:
May the hunger in the millennials be satisfied in Christ and may they work together to transform our country.
