Appeal to Heaven!
“From the days of the pilgrims, godly men and women have believed the Almighty was involved in the birth of our nation.” (1) Each group and individual gave glory to God in their season. Only God was seen to give true freedom and those coming to America’s shores worshipped Him for that. When freedom was threatened just prior to the Revolutionary War, the patriots, led by George Washington, grabbed a motto from John Locke and placed it on a flag – “Appeal to Heaven!”
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” (Galatians 5:1; New International Version) “So now, our God, listen to the prayer of your servant and to his supplications.” (Daniel 9: 17a; New American Standard Bible)
Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:
Thank the Lord for the freedom He has given us through Christ and that this is a hallmark of this nation.
Thank Him for those who first came here carrying His dream in their hearts to see a nation established which honored the Lord.
Acknowledge that we must appeal to heaven to see a restoration of that atmosphere of God-fearing freedom in America once again.
A prayer you can pray:
Dear Lord, I believe that it was a dream in your heart that established the United States of America. I believe You desired to have a place where your people could be free to worship You, to learn of You and to live a life in alignment with your Word in every aspect of their lives. We want our nation to fulfill the destiny you planned for it. We appeal to heaven that You would put the United States of America back on your track once again and let us be that example of a nation whose God is the Lord. Amen.
We decree that this is a nation whose God is the Lord and that God’s dream for America will come to pass!
