The Healing of “Old Glory”
I have been to Cape Henry several times. I am always moved knowing I am at the general location where Robert Hunt and his friends planted a cross on the beach and prophesied the destiny of America: taking the gospel of the Kingdom to all nations. While there with a small team four years ago, we held the American flag and Appeal to Heaven flag together, intertwined, and appealed for the reopening of that covenant well. Our prophetic act pictured the prayers of the Church restoring our nation.
Our friend Gina Gholston saw a picture of this in a vision. She shares:
“On June 29, 2008, the Lord spoke a word to our nation through Ms. Billye Brim saying, ‘ONE THING will save America, and it is NOT an election; It is an AWAKENING TO GOD!’
“Yes, we absolutely need to vote, and yes, we must pray for the elections and that godly men and women will be seated in leadership. For ‘when the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked bear rule, the people mourn’ (Proverbs 29:2). So, yes, these are things that we must do, but we must not neglect and lose sight of the MOST IMPORTANT thing!
“Our nation is sliding down the slippery slope of godlessness. Darkness is covering the earth, and people are famished for light. People MUST know Jesus! To know Him, they MUST see Him! Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 4 that Christ is the Light, and through salvation, God has put that Light inside us so that those who are in the world, blinded by the god of this world, will see the Light and come to know Christ for themselves.
“An election can’t save us as individuals, and it won’t be what saves America. There must be a change in the hearts of mankind, and that will ONLY happen when we have a sweeping, undeniable awakening to an awareness of the reality of God and of His Christ.
“God says to the Church, and He says to America, ‘Return to Me . . . and I will return to you’ (Zechariah 1:3). As we, the Church, the Bride of Christ, stir ourselves and return to Him with our whole hearts, our eyes will behold Him. In the beauty and splendor of His glory, we will encounter Him, hear Him, and be drawn to Him alone. Not only will those encounters impact us, but His Light will shine through us, and those in darkness will see Him. It will be as it was on Mount Carmel when Elijah released fervent, faith-filled prayers and decrees releasing the demonstration of the power and glory of God. ‘When all the people saw [the demonstrated glory and power of God], they fell on their faces; and they said, “The Lord, He is God; the Lord, He is God’” (1 Kings 18:39; AMP)! That’s an awakening . . . and that is what will CHANGE EVERYTHING!
“I once had a vision in which I saw the American flag being wadded up in someone’s hands. Then it was spread back out, but it was all wrinkled and limp. And then the flag started to bleed, becoming saturated with blue and red stains that completely covered over the Stars and Stripes. Still very wrinkled, it looked as if the flag would fall apart. It was extremely damaged.
“Then I saw an Appeal to Heaven flag floating down, and it laid over the top of that limp American flag, completely covering it. The Appeal to Heaven flag not only covered the American flag, but went down into it until the Stars and Stripes began to be seen again. The American flag then began to re-emerge, revived and re-formed. Though it was still a flag, it was now solid steel. And the Appeal to Heaven flag was not separate from it, but was now part of the American flag. Still appearing as the American flag, the two had been forged together into one solid piece. The Appeal to Heaven flag had solidified the American flag.
“I heard the Lord say, ‘This is what I Am forging! I Am forging the two together—the Church and the nation. This will strengthen the nation again, and America will revive, heal, rise, and re-form as the nation I birthed it to be.’
“Our roots as a nation are not planted in our flawed history. Our roots are in Almighty God, for it was He Who birthed America to be a radiant light of His love and power to the world. The wrinkles of a not-so-perfect history and a not-so-perfect present may cause some to believe that the prophetic destiny of America is weak and forever lost, but America shall be saved! Her righteous history and destiny will be restored.
“The Church has been awakened—perhaps not yet as a whole, but at least in part. There is a remnant, which has been aroused from slumber, and we have remembered our God and our godly heritage. There has been stirred within us a vicious passion for God’s Kingdom purposes. We see the distress that we are in. We do not deny or turn a blind eye to the rampant evil in our world. Still, we know that an awakening IS coming—and we hear the alarm clock sounding! It is the voice of the Lord echoing through time, ‘If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land’ (2 Chronicles 7:14).
“We must not be given to despair. We must be given to fervent prayer, and as we pray, God will do what He has promised; He will heal our land! Our sincere return to God, and our fervent, righteous prayers will be a force that strengthens the nation.
“God has awakened the watchmen. He has called us to take our place on the wall of this nation and be His mouthpiece, releasing His Word with His authority, to set necessary things into motion. We must prepare. We must lean heavily on Holy Spirit and allow Him to impart to us God’s well-timed wisdom for the days ahead. It’s a clarion call, a call to action! God has instructed His governing body to release decrees that enforce His verdict: ‘America shall be saved!’ Do so with confidence.
Pray with me:
Father, we come boldly into Your presence, and we acknowledge and decree that You, alone, are God. America is one nation under You, our God. Though the prophetic purposes of our nation seem to be fading into the shadows of an ungodly culture, Your eyes have searched and found within Your Ekklesia hearts that are completely Yours. We ask that through us, You will now show Yourself strong. Do so with demonstrations of Your love and might provoking an undeniable awakening to You in the Church and nation.
We declare that Your original intentions for America are now rising from the shadows to shine once again. You are not late. Your promises for this nation have not been forgotten nor forsaken. Your determined verdict has been made, and cannot be overruled. So, we draw near to You, and You will draw near to us. In Your abiding presence, awakening will come, and You WILL heal our land! In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!
Our decree:
Awakening to God has come and is coming, and America shall be saved! She will once again rise as the nation God birthed her to be.
