Nationally, 2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. Just weeks earlier, on May 17, 1776, the American colonies observed a nationwide Day of Humiliation, Fasting, and Prayer proclaimed by the Second Continental Congress.
