Today, our friend Gina Gholston shares a kairos(1) word with us. Holy Spirit has given her a challenge and an invitation we all need to hear.

He Is Blowing on the Embers

In 1 Kings 19, the Lord revealed to Elijah that he must obey His command to anoint the one who would succeed him. This man was a farmer named Elisha.

As Elijah walked into the field, Elisha was plowing with a yoke of oxen. As he was minding his own business and leading his normal life, Elisha had no idea things were about to change. Locked inside this farmer were seeds of prophetic purpose that God needed. Seeds that had been reserved and preserved for a specific time now entered their kairos season and were about to be awakened to bear fruit. In verse nineteen of this chapter, we see Elijah walk by Elisha and drop his mantle on Elisha’s shoulders. As he did, a prophetic identity Elisha did not even know he carried was instantly awakened.

Recently, as I was reading this biblical account, I heard the Lord say, “You have entered a pivotal moment of awakening.” I was then reminded of something I once heard Holy Spirit say, and I knew it was a word for now. He said to me, “I am releasing a flow of My power that will awaken and commission My called-out ones, My for-such-a-time-as-this ones! It is not an awakening as though they are asleep, but I will awaken that which I have placed in them! I will now breathe on and activate the seeds of purpose that I placed into this ‘called-out’ company. They will rise, and I will send them out with power and strategy to fulfill my purposes.”

I sense we are now in a season when God is focusing on the Ekklesia. The seeds of purpose which have lain dormant are now becoming necessary. Holy Spirit is breathing on these seeds, awakening them to produce a harvest. As with Elisha, so it is with many of us. Some things are being awakened that we didn’t know we were even carrying. However, I sense that it’s time, and our response must be obedient trust as God positions us for the future.

I recall a dream from Holy Spirit where God illustrated how His Spirit has moved through time, and how each generation has a specific piece, a necessary part of His plan. In the dream, I saw a lady explaining what we were seeing and experiencing. We felt a wind stirring around us, and she became very excited! She then began saying, “The wind is blowing again! Hold out the embers that you carry! Let them be reignited by the wind!”

The wind grew stronger, and each one of us reached inside ourselves and pulled out an ember. We held it in front of us, and the wind quickly reignited it. The ember grew hot in our hands, but each of us held on, determined not to let it fall to the ground. Each was committed to doing our part and fulfilling His purpose assigned to us.

Some ladies came to us, and like seamstresses with measuring tapes, they began measuring us. I asked what was happening, and the lady said, “You are each being fitted for the new garments you will wear in the days to come.” Then she said, “And your time . . . begins . . . now!”

I believe this is our time on the timeline, and the wind of Holy Spirit is blowing. The Lord is “dropping His mantle” upon us to awaken the gifts we need so He can launch us into our destinies.

To all who will allow Christ to ignite and activate that which He has entrusted us to carry, I hear Him saying:

“You have entered your time of My divine purpose and destiny! You will begin to see things unfold that will surprise you and even cause you to ask, ‘God, what is this?’ You will find signs that alert you that you are indeed in a new place, a new season. But do not fear, for I will guide you! Don’t follow your emotions; they are not trustworthy. Trust Me as I order your steps. Listen for My instructions and free yourself to obey Me instantly (instant obedience). Focus forward, not behind, and not inward. There is much to be done. We are in a vital season, and I am fulfilling My word. I need you to stay alert. Watch Me, trust Me; obey Me.

“Divine connections are beginning to happen. I am opening new paths! Ideas are coming! You prayed prayers thinking they were for the moment you prayed them, but I set My plan in motion. My plans are coming together. Now, you are entering the time of your ‘defining moment.’ Get ready; things will begin to happen quickly. Stay above the fray so you can hear and see from My perspective, My vantage point. Move with instant obedience as I lead you forward!”

I believe we are stepping through a door into a major kairos moment. It’s time for us, the Ekklesia, to wear the garments He gave us. God knows the gifts we carry; He put them in us. He now requires us to step beyond the familiar and move forward into what He has prepared. Hear Holy Spirit as He declares to us: “Hold out your ember. . . . The wind is blowing!”

Pray with me:

Father, in this critical moment, we come boldly before Your throne of grace to receive divine wisdom and instruction from You that will enable us to rightly navigate the future. We yield our lives to You, and we declare that the seeds You sowed into us will now spring forth and bear fruit of Your purposes! We rise above the noise of the chaos surrounding us—and even above the influence of our own emotions—and we place our focus on You. We listen for Your instructions, and we will obey You swiftly. We breathe in Your resurrection life, and we are revived. Jesus, be glorified through Your awakened body! Amen.
