Healing History
God’s plan is always for the present generation to build on the strengths of the previous. This is the synergy of the ages—multiplied power through generational agreement and honor. We must pray intently, in agreement with the appeals of our forefathers and predecessors, in order to see a continuation of what they birthed. And we must actively repent of our wrongs and theirs, allowing God to reach back in time, healing our history so that blessings can flow into our present.1
Then he said, ‘I am the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.’ At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God. The Lord said, ‘I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey. And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. So now, go.’” (Exodus 3:6-9; NIV)
Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:
Thank the Lord for the saints who have gone before us, generation to generation, at times paying a tremendous price to expand God’s Kingdom in the earth.
Repent for the sins of our Christian forefathers who sinned in the process of spreading the gospel.
Repent of your own complacency or religious attitudes.
Ask the Lord to correct history now and fix what we broke spiritually along the way and get us back on His track as a nation. Tell Him we want to finish the task and cause America to glorify Him!
A prayer you can pray:
Father, thank you for those saints that have gone before us, at times paying a heavy price to stand for Jesus while confronting sin in our nation. Forgive them if they fell into sin and brought reproach on the Church and on Your name. Forgive me when I may have done the same. Hear my prayers and please use me and my generation to correct the past, so that this nation can completely fulfill its calling and glorify You in the earth! In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
Today’s decree:
Our repentance today can heal the breaches of history so that Jesus can be glorified in America!
