Our hearts are weeping with West Virginia today. Saturday, a state of emergency was declared for the state. Flooding has devastated areas across nearly the entire state, but particularly in 3 counties. 26 people have been found dead, so far. Over 100 homes have been lost and a great number of businesses have been interrupted, as well. The media is calling this a 1000-year flood, meaning it would only happen once in 1ooo years. Not far away, the Lord has been pouring out in revival in Mingo County, WV.
“Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.” (Romans 12:15; ESV)
Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:
Pray for those who live in the state of West Virginia. Ask the Lord for mercy and, if you weep while you pray, know that your tears of intercession are welcome before the throne of grace.
Ask the Lord to direct government and private aid into the state, so that it is exactly what is needed. Sometimes too many well-meaning organizations come in and actually make the recovery harder.
Pray for Believers to shine in this hour, sharing the love and compassion of Jesus with those who have lost much.
Ask that the revival moves to the northeast and that many find Christ in this hour of need.
A prayer you can pray:
Father, we weep with West Virginia tonight. It is hard to imagine so great a loss across an entire state. We are asking You to direct the efforts to bring comfort and assistance, cleanup and recovery to the devastated areas. Keep people and groups away that are in it for themselves. Let Your Church there be examples of the Believers in every way and show forth Your love so that many will come to know You. Expand the revival in West Virginia, Lord. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
The people of West Virginia are deeply loved by God and we will see revival expand turning this tragedy into glory!
