PART 2: Urgent Request for Prayer Regarding Iran
For the past 2 days (7/22 & 7/23), I’ve been discussing the need for civil government and the body of Christ to work together. Yesterday, I applied this to prayer regarding the situation in Iran. In the words of my spiritual father of 40 years, Jim Hodges, who texted me after reading yesterday’s post: “Thank you! The ending of the war with Iran will shift America spiritually, economically, and ideologically! The ‘prince of Persia’ is falling in the Middle East and the ‘Prince of Peace’ is rising!”
In 2020 God gave my friend, Clay Nash, a dream of great significance. Though I’ve shared the dream before on GH15, it is related to the subject I’ve been addressing. Clay shared:
“On the morning of September 9, 2020, I dreamed that Dutch issued a call for eight people to rally near Cape Henry. The team would fast, pray, and re-dedicate/consecrate themselves to the Lord, after which they would go to Cape Henry. As the team obeyed and sought God, dreams were received, revealing a wave of awakening sweeping across the nation.
“Dutch then said we were ready to set foot on Cape Henry, at the Cross, and see the ‘Well of Oaths’ opened and freed, to flow across America.
“Upon arriving at Cape Henry, some from the ‘cloud of witnesses’ appeared (Hebrews 12:1), and Rees Howells stepped forth to pray over us. His prayer said, ‘Let those assigned to break up the fallow ground plow deep, in order that the soil of this nation be prepared for the seeds of righteousness to be sown. This will result in an abundant harvest.’
“Rees then took off his coat and placed it on Dutch’s shoulders, saying, ‘This is the coat I wore during World War II, and must be worn by the Ekklesia in order to see the Kingdom harvest at hand.’
“Rees then hugged Dutch - like a father would a son - and said, ‘The training is finished; it’s time to go to war...and you will see the turning of the war.’” End of dream.
My Thoughts
Cape Henry, more than any other place in America, represents God’s Kingdom purpose for her. When Robert Hunt and company stepped ashore and planted a cross on the beach, he prayed and prophesied America’s destiny: partnering with God to extend His Kingdom’s influence and preach the gospel to the ends of the earth.
There is no doubt that these settlers were entering into a covenant with God. And there is no doubt that God placed the desire in their hearts to do so. This was and is God’s plan and destiny for America, and it is being restored.
There were eight of us in the dream; eight is the number for “new beginning” in Scripture.
The phrase “well of oaths,” used in the dream, actually means “well of covenant.” Oath and covenant are used interchangeably in Scripture. This phrase is actually the literal meaning of Beersheba, the name of a well Abraham dug. (Genesis 21:33). After Abraham’s death, Philistines filled in this well and several others he had dug in an attempt to impede his son Isaac’s prosperity (Genesis 26:18). Isaac redug his father’s “well of oaths/covenant,” symbolizing: 1) a renewed flow of the benefits Abraham enjoyed through his covenant with God, and (though he wouldn’t have known at the time) 2) a continuation of God’s covenantal plan to redeem the world.
In Clay’s dream, God was saying to us what Isaac had demonstrated: “You must tap into the well of your past, unclogging and renewing the covenant your fathers made with Me. In this ‘well of oaths/covenant’ you will find the life, revival, spiritual harvest, and restoration you need.
Rees Howells in the dream represents prayer and brings me to the specific application for today. Rees was a powerful intercessor and founder of the Bible College of Wales. During World War II, he and his students shouldered a great intercessory burden of supporting the Allied Forces and warring spiritually against the Nazis and the spiritual forces behind them. Rees and his intercessors prayed for hours every day, and without question, helped save the world from Hitler’s demonic plans. (You can read about this in the book Rees Howells: Intercessor, by Norman Grubbs.)
In the dream, Howells wrapped his mantle around me–I believe I represented the praying church–and said it was what he wore during WWII. This mantle no doubt represents the church’s authority in intercession, generally speaking, and specifically refers to praying for governments and nations. He stated that “The training is finished, it’s time to go to war…and you will see the turning of the war.”
I know Rees’ final statement in this dream refers to prayer and spiritual warfare for America’s destiny and the coming great harvest. But I cannot help but now believe that the statement has a dual meaning: if we put on the mantle of governmental intercession Rees and his company of intercessors wore during World War II, “and go to war”, we will see “the turning of this war” in Iran.
This dream was nowhere on my radar when I wrote and recorded yesterday's post. In fact, I had not thought about it in quite some time. Honestly, I did not even remember the phrase about the turning of the war until rereading the dream today.
I conclude today’s post with a paragraph from yesterday:
Do not be deceived into thinking the war is only militaristic or physical; don’t fall into the trap of expecting President Trump and our military to prevail without our help. I am asking you that for a season, you will commit to daily prayer regarding this, even if only for a few minutes. Whether that be in your devotional prayer time, on your commute, as you do chores around the house, or in gatherings with others, I am asking you to become consistent in your prayers for this. Let’s do our part–we can turn the tide!
Pray with me:
Father, Clay’s dream from 2020 spoke of a re-dedication of America to You. This has occurred, and the power of our covenant with You is now flowing to the nation. Revival, awakening, and reformation have begun. We declare once again the words of Robert Hunt [April 29, 1607] and his friends at Cape Henry affirming our purpose:
“We do hereby dedicate this land, and ourselves, to reach the people within these shores with the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to raise up godly generations after us, and with these generations take the Kingdom of God to all the earth. May this Covenant of Dedication remain to all generations, as long as this earth remains, and may this land, along with England, be evangelists to the world. May all who see this cross remember what we have done here, and may those who come here to inhabit join us in this covenant and this most noble work, that the Holy Scriptures may be fulfilled. From these very shores the gospel shall go forth, not only to this new world, but the entire world.”(1)
And we now put on the coat Rees and his Ekklesia company wore, the mantle of governmental intercession. Just as they did in WWII, we partner with our government and military, releasing the authority You gave us to enforce Your victory over Satan and his kingdom: We declare that the evil forces of death and destruction in the Middle East will not prevail. They have been stripped of their authority through Christ, and in His name we bind their influence. We command confusion and disorder into their ranks, and defeat to their plans.
We ask You, Lord, to supernaturally dismantle the IRGC and all control held by radical Islamists in Iran. Free the people from this oppression, and the Middle East from its influence. Create a beachhead of liberty and a base for the gospel to the entire region. Strengthen and expand the Abrahamic Accords, and bring a great, great spiritual harvest to the Muslim world.
Lastly, give our government and military supernatural help and brilliant strategies. Protect our troops, our military bases, the innocent people of Iran, and the nations surrounding them. Protect Israel from every diabolical plan to harm them. In Yeshua’s name, amen.
Our decree:
We declare the release of God’s Kingdom authority throughout the Middle East region and in the Iran war, in the authority of Jesus Christ. Amen.
