Feb. 3 – The Court’s Limitation of Power
The U.S. Supreme Court has become untethered from the Constitution and exercised authority that it does not have—like abolishing prayer, bible reading, and the display of the Ten Commandments in our schools. The Court has legalized unlimited abortion, same-sex marriage, seizure of property for commercial use, and much, much more. The U.S. Supreme Court and our Federal District and Circuit Courts of Appeal are now packed with judges who believe in a living, breathing Constitution that can be interpreted so as to change with the times. As morals in culture change, so do the moral standards by which some Judges interpret the Constitution. If a judge believes strongly in an issue about which the Constitution does not speak, he can “discover penumbras” (i.e., shadows) in the Constitution or draw his authority from thin air. This has gone way too far for the American people and if it is not changed by our new President, by choosing judges to serve at every level who believe in judicial restraint, originalism and who believe, as did the aforementioned Justice Joseph Story and many others, that there is a higher law and a Higher Judge than themselves, our Republic, our experiment in self-rule, will be over (Is 40:8).
“For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; he will save us.” (Isaiah 33:22) “I will worship… and praise thy name for thy loving-kindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy Word above all thy name.” (Psalm 138:2)
Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:
Ask God to Move mightily to overhaul our judicial system. Even as many believe our new President is responding to the Spirit of God, he has gathered a great many believers around him who are ministering Christ constantly, may he and each member of our Supreme Court be moved by the Holy Spirit to draw near to Him who is our King.
May our President choose men and women who hold to the Constitution, originalism and Judicial restraint, but who also hold to our Creator, the Supreme Judge of the World, our Savior and only King. May they revere His word, which He has magnified above His Name.
May He choose Justices and Judges who are fully equipped, ready as stewards to be faithful to their oath and calling to the very end, rightly dividing the Words of the Constitution and the Word of God as it pertains to men, the law, and nations.
As God brings revival to our land may it come from the bottom up and the top down! May it break out in every sphere of culture and especially civil government which impacts every segment and subset of society. May the day come when we, like ancient Judah, come with fruits of repentance, as one man in solemn assembly to truly dedicate our nation back wholly to Him! (see Solemn Assembly – Richard Owen Roberts)
A prayer you can pray:
Father, we cry out to You to draw the members fo the Supreme Court to Yourself. Just as You have done this with our Executive Branch, we ask that You do it for our Judicial Branch, as well. We can believe for this miracle! We look to You and You alone to re-set our government and Court. We must have God-fearing leaders that uphold the Constitution and respect the Rule of Law. We look forward to a President and Congress that calls us to as a nation to holy convocations and seasons of prayer serious matters the Supreme Court will face. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
Today’s decree:
For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; he will save us!
