God Cares About Our Struggles
How’s the weather where you are? It looks like the forecast across the nation is calling for pretty freezing temperatures from now through Christmas and New Year’s. Travel will be challenging for so many as they try to trek “home” for the holidays. The failure of heaters in the homes of the poor and elderly could prove tragic. Extra room in makeshift shelters will need to be found for the homeless. What about medical emergencies these next few nights? Jesus cares about all these needs, just as He did on a night long ago when Jesus was born. Let’s get ahead of the storms in prayer and action.
“Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” (Philippians 2:4; ESV)
Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:
Pray for the safety of those who will be traveling for Christmas reunions over the next few days.
Intercede for the heating systems of the poor and elderly to hold up to the challenge of the incoming storms. Pray that neighbors stay connected to them.
Ask God to help cities and charities to get ready to house more of the homeless.
See if there is anything you can practically do to help keep people in your locale safe, cared for and feeling connected and loved in this Christmas season.
A prayer you can pray:
Father, keep the millions of travelers safe over the next week or so. Let there be an unprecedented lack of accidents or travel issues this year in America. Let families be able to be united and to celebrate Jesus’ birth together. May many come to see who Jesus is! Make sure that those who need help are able to obtain it. Help me to know what needs done to help care for the needs of the elderly, the poor and the homeless in my realm of influence. Thank you, Jesus. Amen.
Today’s decree:
I decree that America is a caring nation, because we are a Christian nation!
