Resurrection Day 2020

“It is easy to forget good things when problems, especially big problems, are confronting us. The coronavirus has been quite the prevailing problem for all of us in recent weeks. This unseen enemy has forcibly reshaped so much of our lives and our activities, yet we cannot afford for the coronavirus threat to dampen, diminish or blanket the beauty and power of Easter and Passover—Jesus is our crucified and resurrected King!

“It is interesting to note that the first Passover was celebrated, not in the freedoms and wealth of the Promised Land, but in oppressive and restrictive Egypt. It is also interesting to note that when Jesus celebrated his last passover meal with his disciples, and offered up himself as the ultimate sacrifice for humanity, Israel was not a free nation, but a conquered Roman territory with stationed Roman soldiers.

Like Jesus and the Jews, we can feast and celebrate in tough times. If God implemented the Passover in Egypt and Jesus maintained it under Roman occupation, we certainly will not allow any threat, political or biological, to stop us from recognizing and celebrating this rich Judeo-Christian legacy and tradition.

“We join millions of Christians and Jews around the world and wish you all a wonderful Easter and Passover. We pray your families and homes will be filled with the presence and peace of our Savior Jesus Christ.” (Dr. Dennis and Ginger Lindsay, their family, and the Christ for the Nations Staff)

“The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying. Go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead!’” (Matthew 28:5-7a; NASB)

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” (1Peter 1:3; ESV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  1. Praise Jesus, for He has made a way for us to the Father through His death on the cross and resurrection from the dead!

  2. Consider the circumstances as outlined above in the first Passover and in Jesus’ last Passover (the Last Supper).

  3. Read your favorite version of the resurrection from Matthew 28, Mark 16, Luke 24 and/or John 20.

  4. Declare, “Jesus certainly will not allow any threat, political or biological, to stop His Church from recognizing and celebrating this rich Judeo-Christian legacy and tradition!” We will celebrate as the Israelites and the first Church did, as individuals and families in our homes, but we will celebrate Him!”

  5. Intercede for those suffering in sickness, loneliness, or financial need.

A prayer you can pray:

Father, we are living in extraordinary times, but they are not unfamiliar to You and Your people. It is just this generation’s turn. Thank You for the encouraging word from the Lindsay family. Help us to remember that Jesus made a way for us to come to You through His death on the cross and resurrection from the dead! As we read the story of the resurrection, let our faith arise. We are filled with that same resurrection power through Your Holy Spirit. Let the Church arise and work miracles. Let us intercede with revelation and faith and believe we can see millions turn to Jesus now. Jesus, You will certainly not allow any threat, political or biological, to stop Your Church from recognizing and celebrating our rich Judeo-Christian legacy and tradition! We will celebrate as the Israelites and the first Church did, as individuals and families in our homes, but we will celebrate You!

We pray for those who are suffering in this season. So many are sick and some have lost loved ones. Some have lost their jobs. Some are panicking over their financial losses and are not sure how to feed themselves or their families. The isolation is causing some to feel deeply lonely. Jesus, we need You. We need a Savior now more than ever in our lifetime. Grace, grace, grace. Miracles, miracles, miracles. Jesus, save the lost, heal the sick, comfort the hurting, and turn all eyes Your way, Savior of the whole earth. Amen.

Today’s decree:

Let blind eyes be opened and let the world see and turn to Jesus today!
