The Fear of the Lord
[Beginning 9/25, and continuing through Election Day, November 3rd, GiveHim15 is joining forces with many other national prayer ministries in 40 Days of Prayer for America. Lisa Crump, V.P. of Volunteer Mobilization, National Day of Prayer, provides today’s prayer focus.]
“Where is America headed? How my soul mourns at the absence of honor and respect for our Lord Jesus Christ and His values in our culture. The public arena has rapidly descended as the disappearance of the fear of the Lord has vaporized from the heart and mind of many, especially the highly visible and vocal. The lack of civility, loss of decorum, ill-regard for authority are signs of a society in peril, one which desires to serve self.
“The need for God’s wisdom is infinite. Our nation can improve with a holy fear and reverence of God. Then—and only then—His wisdom can begin.
“According to Romans 14:12, one day every soul will give an account of their lives to God, their Creator.”
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.” (Proverbs 1:7; NIV)
Points for Prayer (By, Lisa Crump):
Repent and ask the Holy Spirit’s conviction on the populous that we may all know the existence of the Lord.
Repent and ask the Holy Spirit’s conviction on the populous to revere/honor/fear the Lord.
Repent and ask the Holy Spirit’s conviction on the populous to seek the Lord.
A Prayer You Can Pray:
Father, we ask You today for the fear of the Lord to come to America. Send Your Holy Spirit and convict our hearts of sin. Cause our ignorance and even rejection of You to become a burning concern. Let us suddenly feel Your closeness and realize how far sin has driven us from You. Only You can cause men’s hearts to turn toward You en masse in this manner. Only the fear of the Lord can accomplish this.
Forgive us our sins. Give us the wisdom and knowledge of You that comes with the fear of the Lord. Remind us to pray and seek You in everything we say and do. Help us remember Your closeness and desire to be involved in our governing decisions. You are a God who is near, not far off. We turn to You, Jesus, and we will be saved! Amen.
The Great Awakening is upon us and America will fear the Lord!
