A Korean Symbol of Peace

Reuniting families divided for decades is one of the promises made last week when the heads of North and South Korea met to discuss a plan for peace. Leadership around the world is cautiously optimistic about the coming plan. Family members wept at the thought of seeing one another again—can this really be true? One hopeful sign emerged on Friday after lunch. A pine tree was jointly planted. “…A pine tree – standing for peace and prosperity – with soil and water from both countries.”1 It was thought to have been seeded in 1953 at the end of the Korean War. It may now become a symbol of the answer to the prayers of millions of Korean saints praying for 65 years for the unity of their families and their nations.

“Evergreens will grow in place of thorn bushes, firs will grow in place of nettles; they will be a monument to the Lord, a permanent reminder that will remain.” (Isaiah 55:13; NET)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  1. Pray for the citizens of both North and South Korea, as they begin to hope again.

  2. Ask the Lord to bless the praying Church of Korea, both North and South, for their 65 years of intercession toward the freedom of their nations.

  3. Intercede for the reuniting of families across the borders.

  4. Ask God for a great harvest of souls to begin in North and South Korea! There can be a spiritual unification, while the physical one is being developed.

A prayer you can pray:

Father, Korea is on Your heart! Nothing happens by accident and we believe the planting of an evergreen tree by North and South Korea was a sign from You that You are answering the 65 years of prayers of the people of Korea. Let it become a monument of Your faithfulness to answer the prayers of  Your people. Reunite families and reunite a nation. Let no future plan of man stop fathers, mothers, children, aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents from seeing one another, holding one another, and praying with one another, ever again! Send revival to Korea now, Lord—a great harvest of souls! In Jesus’ name, amen.

Today’s decree:

I decree that Korea and its families will be reunited now! 1 Smith, Nicola, et. al., “Kim Jong-un and Moon Jae-in commit to Korean ‘peace regime’ to end nuclear conflict at historic summit”., 4/27/18. 5/1/18.
