The Providence of God

“Providence is the continuous activity of God in His creation by which He preserves and governs. It is the denial of the idea that the universe is governed by chance or fate. God’s actions, however, do not violate the reality of human choice or negate man’s responsibility as a moral being. God permits sinful acts to occur, but He does not cause men to sin. He often overrules evil for good and God preserves all things through His Providence.”1

“We are confident that God is able to orchestrate everything to work toward something good and beautiful when we love Him and accept His invitation to live according to His plan.” (Romans 8:28; The VOICE)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  1. God’s Providence is at work, but are we seeing it? Do we notice the hand of God, the ways of God in our midst? Repent if you have not been watching for where God is moving.

  2. The Bible says that God works all things together for good for those who love Him and live for Him. Think of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Jesus, Lazarus, etc. What looks dead, lost, and enslaved is only temporarily so. The turn-around will glorify the Lord! Think about this and then rejoice!

  3. Now, commit to watch for God’s Providence. Pray for those seemingly dead circumstances in your life and in the nation and command them to unfold into life under the mighty hand of God!

A prayer you can pray:

Dear Lord, forgive me when I do not watch for where You are working. I want to be one who sees and understands the ways of God. I rejoice in the fact that you work all things together for me, just as You did for the patriarchs and Jesus, because I love you and have accepted Your invitation to live according to Your plan! I pray that You will work all things together for good in my life. I believe You are working things together for good in this nation. Help me to see how. I command that Your plan would not be delayed! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Today’s decree:

God’s Providence is at work and I can trust Him that He is causing good to triumph over evil in my life and in this nation!
